A few months ago, Priyanka refused to act in Salman Khan’s home production Main Aur Mrs Khanna. This lead to Salman bad mouthing and misbehaving towards her on the sets of God Tussi Great Ho. Keeping quite then, Priyanka has waited for the right time to hit back.

When she was asked to appear on Dus Ka Dum, she refused and instead sent her boyfriend and Love Story 2050 co-star Harman Baweja. Harman will now be seen on the show on his own, while Priyanka, to add salt to Salman’s wounds, will appear alongside Shah Rukh Khan on Paanchvi Paas.

A source says, “She happily agreed to be part of Shah Rukh’s show with Harman. Considering the fact that her film with Salman, God Tussi Great Ho will release in July, she could have combined the promotions of both her films by appearing on Salman’s show and killed two birds with one stone. However, Priyanka chose not to give in to external pressures this time and preferred to honour her conscience instead.”

This year too, Akshay seems to be hell bent on proving that indeed, Singh is King in the industry. After the success of Salaam Namastey, director Vipul Shah has planned an unadulterated ode to the lions of Punjab, a film which reportedly celebrates Punjabiyat like never before. Karan Johar take a back seat, there’s somebody else saying shava shava this time.

Akshay’s other biggies are Chandni Chowk to China, Tashan and 8×10. If Nikhil Advani’s Chandni Chowk to China and Yash Chopra’s (produced) Tashan mark his rebirth as the action hero – something he’s already proved his forte with – then Nagesh Kukoonor’s 8×10 has been in the news for it’s desification of Manoj Night Shyamalan’s The Sixth Sense.

Akshay is the hero with the sixth sense, having the power to peep into the past of dead people. Truly, an attempt to be different from an actor who has been wedded to the mainstream until now.

On the action front, it is the two Khan’s —Aamir and Salman —who might walk away with all the bravery medals this year. Both of them are playing the lead role in two re-makes from the South, Ghajini and Pokkiri (Wanted Dead or Alive).

If Aamir plays a distraught boyfriend who is called upon to avenge his girlfriend’s murder despite suffering from short-term amnesia in Ghajini, then Salman Khan does a Yojimbo in Wanted Dead or Alive as the mobster who fights against the gang despite being a part of it. Rest assured, these two films will definitely end up as major box office draws, since both Aamir and Salman have rustled up hysteria by flexing their biceps before. For Salman, there is the Indian version of Bruce Almighty, God Tussi Great Ho.

It’s action dramas and thrillers that are going to dominate the box office this year. Three other snazzy action thrillers that promise to end up as winners are Ram Gopal Varma’s take two on the Godfather series, Sarkar Raaj where the Bachchan Inc, Amitabh, Abhishek, Aishwarya, seems to be all set to outshine the Corleones. The other two adrenalin-pumpers are Abbas-Mustan’s Race with Saif Ali Khan and Apurva Lakhia’s Mission Istanbul with Viveik Oberoi and Tusshar Kapoor reprising their Shootout at Lokhandwala trigger-happy ways; this time battling with terrorists in Afghanistan, Kashmir and the rest of the axis of evil. And if that’s not chopsucky enough, there’s the debut of desi Superman- II with Abhishek donning the flying suit in Drona. Can he leave Krrish behind?

So, no romance huh? Don’t sweat. The year begins on a romantic note with Ashutosh Gowariker’s period romance Jodhaa Akbar, blossoms with the effervescent Shahid Kapoor double bonanza, Milenge Milenge with Kareena Kapoor and Kismat Konection with Vidya Balan. And before you can take a break, it catapults into the future with Love 2050, the futuristic love story that marks the debut of Harman Baweja with Priyanka Chopra. There is also Subhash Ghai’s most expensive tribute to ishq-vishq, Yuvraj, which is all set to unveil the chemistry between Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.

For the serious film buff, the year could end up enticing too with Rakeysh Mehra’s Delhi 6, an autobiographical account of growing up in Chandni Chowk and Madhur Bhandrakar’s insights into the underbelly of the fashion industry, Fashion. And before our comedy buffs get frowning, there could just be the baap of all laughs to wash away 2008 blues. Yes, we’re talking about David Dhawan’s tribute to guru Manmohan Desai, with his re-make of Amar Akbar Anthony, starring he Khan brothers (Salman, Sohail, Arbaaz). All in all, it’s gonna be a power-packed year at the box office.

Interesting part about Dulha Mil Gaya and God Tussi Great Ho is that both the films have been in the making for long with their release plan being always uncertain. Surprisingly Jannat, shooting of which is currently underway, was originally slotted for an April release but has now has been pulled into March.

Big B is getting ready to unleash three flicks aimed predominantly at kids.Apart from Alladin, there is Ravi Chopra’s Bhootnath and Rumi Jaffrey’s God, Tussi Great Ho where he plays a ghost and God, respectively.

Grown-ups are welcome. But my film is designed as Mr Bachchan’s gift to his young fans,” says Ghosh.

Says a source, “Big B plays a spunky funny doughty and dude-like God, not your average God-in-costume but a very funky character, who has this on-going dialogue on life with Salman.

In fact all of Amitabh Bachchan Saab’s scenes are with Salman Khan, an actor he really enjoys working with after Baghban and Baabul.

In both they shared screen space as father and son. In God… they’ve a far funnier and much more easy- going rapport.

As the shooting progressed friction between the two rose and inevitably there was a showdown in which Priyanka pulled up Salman for being rude, reports HT City.

Aggravated, Salman Khan asked director Rumi Jaffrey to announce a pack up, which the hapless Jaffery did.

Actually, Salman had arrived early on the set that day so Priyanka wasn’t so much at fault. The spat probably occurred because the two have a history.

Salman miffed Priyanka when he refused to act opposite her in London Dreams last year. The film by Rajkumar Santoshi is currently on hold.

There was a long comic scene being shot between Big B and Sallu where the latter was finding it difficult to get his timing right. But Big B maintained his cool and after Salman finally got it correct, Bachchan gave Salman a big hug, much to the surprise of onlookers.

God Tussi Great Ho is a comedy based on Jim Carrey’s Hollywood hit, Bruce Almighty , with Salman playing Carrey’s role and Bachchan Sr. stepping into Morgan Freeman’s part, playing God. The film also stars Priyanka Chopra.

“In Salaam-E-Ishq I play this wannabe, an item girl who just wants to become successful so desperately. My character is a funny, sassy, saucy screwball. And yes, I had loads of fun doing the role. It’s an ensemble cast. But I’d like to believe my track with Salman is special.”

Priyanka also teams up with Salman in her other early-2007 release. “God Tussi Great Ho is another comedy. And yes, Mr Bachchan—who else! — plays God. I guess it’s time for me to let my hair down and enjoy myself. It’s writer Rumi Jaffrey’s debut film as a director.”

Two forthcoming films with Salman, and still rumours of a serious rift between the two persist. It’s said he insisted on Katrina Kaif instead of Priyanka for Raj Kumar Santoshi’s London Dreams.

“What bunk!” Priyanka howls. “I couldn’t do London Dreams only because of date problem. Salman and I get along well enough. You’ve to see our on-screen chemistry in Salaam-e-Ishq and God, Tussi Great Ho.”

People are whispering about the off-screen chemistry between Priyanka and the new kick on the block Harman Baweja especially since she stepped in as a last-minute replacement for Kareena in Harman’s debut film Love Story 2050.

“The only reason I did Love Story 2050 was my role. I get to do my first double role. And the two characters, specially the second one will make people sit up and notice. If styling is essential to the characterizations these days, then Love Story 2050 has got the formula right. As for stepping into the film so late, I’d always stand by a friend. Why only Harman, I’d bail out any of my friends on a crisis. Just try me.”
