Also, if Deepika boasts of some impressive offers under her belt – from Yashraj’s Bachna Ae Haseenon opposite beau Ranbir and Nikhil Advani’s Chandni Chowk To Chinatown, Sonam has Rakeysh Mehra’s Dilli 6 opposite Abhishek Bachchan, was even considered to play the lead in Rakesh Roshan’s Kites opposite the very popular Hrithik Roshan, and the icing on her cake is when she signed on Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi , a film in which she’ll share screen space with Shah Rukh Khan. Essaying the role of a 16-year-old Punjabi kudi paired opposite a forty year old man (SRK in the film) may make for an interesting story.

If Deepika acted with SRK in her debut film, Sonam acts with the Badshah Khan now, and if Sonam played Ranbir’s love interest in Saawariya , Deepika has him for a lover in Bachna Ae Haseenon .

Deepika has managed to enter the bold-n-glam arena, while Sonam has done brilliantly as the sweet, innocent girl.

While Rakeysh Mehra is busy recreating vignettes from New Delhi in Jaipur for his new film Dilli 6 with his lead pair Sonam Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan, debutant director Ajit Pal is busy shooting dramatic sequences in Jaisalmer for his cricket film Victory.

But Harman Baweja and the ‘cricket’ team aren’t shooting cricket scenes in Jaisalmer. The game part of the narration has been canned in Mumbai. “We’re shooting heavy-duty dramatic scenes in the freezing cold, and that too at nights when the temperature in below-Zero,” informs Anupam Kher, who plays Harman’s father.

And the reason for that is that the daughter of Anil Kapoor has bagged Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra ’s Delhi 6 as her next film.

“I’m second time lucky. If I had to choose one filmmaker after Sanjay Leela Bhansali , I’d have chosen Rakeysh Mehra. I went beyond conventional definitions of the heroine in ‘Saawariya’. I hope to do the same in ‘Delhi 6′. It’s a great follow up,” says Sonam

Asked about other offers, Sonam said: “They’re all coming to my father. He’s so proud of me. He keeps saying he never knew I could be such a capable actor and handle the media with dignity and grace.”

While her father is scanning all the offers, Sonam is concentrating on “Delhi 6″ that reportedly stars Abhishek Bachchan in the male lead.

Sonam had bagged her second film, Delhi 6 even before the release of her first film, Saawariya. Anil Kapoor and Sonam both sat together to hear the script and gave their approval. She will be paired opposite Abhishek Bachchan in the film. Delhi 6 has gone through a change of nearly seven actors till now. Mehra has zeroed down upon Abhishek and Sonam now and the two actors will be officially signed this week.

Names like Hrithik Roshan and Akshay Kumar and even Siddharth from Rang De Basanti were bandied. The director denies that these names were ever considered. “The media came up with names. They knew better than me. The fact is, after Abhishek’s departure, I’ve been re-working the entire script. Now Delhi 6 is an entirely different kettle of fish from what it used to be earlier.”

The buzz is that Rakeysh now intends to make Delhi 6 as an international English-Hindi bi-lingual featuring newcomers.

Though the Basanti filmmaker doesn’t confirm his next project’s international ambitions, he doesn’t rule out the fact that Delhi 6 could star newcomers. “Yes why not? The important thing is to maintain a transparency in the presentation. That’s why I liked Ganesh Acharya’s Swami. It has a very sweet simple ‘European’ feel to it. It doesn’t hide behind unnecessary complexities.”
