The sun was shining brightly overhead but temperatures actually soared when Shahid Kapur entered at Kshitij 2007- the annual intercollegiate festival of Mithibai College.

Although college girls were on the verge of getting dehydrated, they stood rooted to one place for hours at a stretch fearing that they might miss a glimpse of their favourite star. Security volunteers kept the atmosphere vibrant by chanting Kshitij slogans while loud music played in the background.

The mere mention of the actor’s name by the festival heads walking around with their walkies caused several false alarms.

All prayers were answered, as Shahid stepped out of his swanky sliver Mercedes Benz smiling and waving out to the excited youngsters. There was total pandemonium when the students spotted the Jab We Met actor.

Meanwhile, word had spread of his arrival and outsiders climbed over the college fences to catch a glimpse of the young actor. Unmindful of the traffic, hordes of youngsters followed him all the way across the road to the open-air auditorium next doors where rock bands from various city colleges were belting out numbers.

Shahid dealt with all the adulation with complete ease and comfort. When asked to speak about his college days he said: “I admit I was always hanging around in the canteen than the classrooms. I was part of the Kshitij in my college days and I’m glad to be back.”

He also shook a leg with the crowd at the auditorium to the tunes of the track, ‘Mauja Mauja.’ He left the venue but not before leaving the crowds wanting more of their favourite star. More than hundred fans were seen chasing his car as the actor made a quick exit.
