Magistrate gave orders to seize the Rani Mukherjee’s land
The Sub Divisional Magistrate of Ahmednagar, Nandakumar Suryavanshi on Thursday gave out the verdict in Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee’s Shirdi land fraud case. The Magistrate gave orders to seize the actress’ land.
“We had the final hearing today where it was concluded that the transaction done by Mukherjee was illegal and we have formally taken over its possession,” Deputy District Collector, Ahmednagar, Nandkumar Suryavanshi told agencies over the phone.
The matter will be now taken over by the Regional Commissioner of Ahmednagar. He will also be deciding the fine to be imposed on Rani in lieu of the case. Reportedly, she will have to shell out a sum of approximately Rs, 91,00,000 as fine.
According to the previous reports, the actress was allegedly tricked into buying the farmland in question near Shirdi, Maharashtra. This 11,000 sq ft of land was bought in 2005 from Sampat More for the purpose of building a house for the Mukherjee clan.
The problem arose when Rani was told that the ownership could not be transferred in her name despite paying a lump sum of Rs 132,000 for registration. The land was reportedly under government possession, which was leased out to a farmer.
“We have conveyed to her lawyer that she could possess the land by applying for its regularisation to the Divisional Commissioner, Nashik. If he approves the application, then the actor has to pay 75 per cent of the prevailing market value of this 11,000 square feet land,” Suryavanshi said.
