MY NAME IS KHAN assumes more importance because the hottest on-screen Bollywood couple of the last fifteen years, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol shot together for a full fledged project after almost 8 years. The momentous day was January 7 2009! And now we have news that SRK and Kajol have finished their Los Angeles schedule and have left the city last week. From March-May they will shoot in Mumbai and complete the Indian portions. They are scheduled to be back in the US (San Francisco) in June to wrap up the last parts. After that the film will go into post production.

However, Kajol is not paired with SRK in RNBDJ, she’s only doing a song. It was director Aditya Chopra’s idea to rope in Kajol.

The song will be shot in Mumbai. And Kajol will appear in one of the verses of a song filmed on Shah Rukh and newcomer Anushka Sharma. The setting of the song will be a Punjabi folk event, and Kajol appears seconds before the song ends.

Now the man who has worked with Bollywood to direct the action sequences for Ajay Devgan- Kajol starrer Toonpur Ka Superhero.

Toonpur Ka Superhero is India’s first live-action and 3D animation feature film directed by Kireet Khurana.

Karan always wanted Kajol to play the leading lady of Shahrukh in his forthcoming film but he had to keep his project on hold for a long time as Kajol was busy with U Me Aur Hum and she did not get the time to listen to the story and give heed to the project. But finally, she listened and said yes to it. As the shooting is scheduled to take place in US, it is not yet known whether Kajol’s daughter Nysa would also accompany her.

Now that Kajol has signed the project and Shahrukh is also getting over with his IPL, both of the stars will become free to work on the project. The film is expected to roll very soon. The film will definitely be a treat for the cine buffs as after a long time, they will get to see Kajol romancing Shahrukh.

Model Anushka Sharma will play Shah Rukh Khan’s leading lady in “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”, which is being directed by Aditya Chopra.

Yash Chopra, Chairman, Yash Raj Films, announced that the 19-year-old from Bangalore has been selected to play the female lead.

“We were looking first and foremost for someone who could truly embody the spirit of small town Punjab and we know we have found her in Anushka,” said Yash Chopra.

So far Aditya has wielded the megaphone for two films – he debuted as a director with super hit “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” and his second film was “Mohabbatein”.

Anushka is a model and hailed from Bangalore. She caught everyone’s sight during the last fashion week where she was chosen for the Wendell Roderick’s finale. Ever since, she has been flooded with endorsements. She will play a small town Punjabi girl in one of the biggest release of 2009. For quite sometime, Yashraj has been hunting for a fresh, new face to be paired opposite SRK and ultimately their search ended with Anushka. They feel she is the perfect girl for Shahrukh.

Many names like Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Kajol were suggested for the role. Sonam was even signed for the role but something did not work out and ultimately the golden break fell in Anushka’s lap.

Directed by Ajay Devgan and Produced by Devgan Films, U, Me Aur Hum stars real life couple Ajay and Kajol in the lead and has received rave reviews from audiences all over. A mature and heart rending love story, U, Me Aur Hum released on April 11 and has been going strong in theatres and multiplexes according to box office reports.

`Very few actresses can perform like her. Doesn`t every director want to work with Kajol?` Ajay told reporters.

`Working with her is a delight. When a writer writes his book, he uses words to express himself and when a director makes a film, actors like her help convey the message rightly,` added Devgan, who was in the capital Saturday to promote his upcoming film.

Ajay Devgan denies he would only select Kajol for his future projects.

Apart from Ajay and Kajol, the movie also stars Divya Dutta, Karan Khanna, Isha Sharvani and Sumeet Raghavan. It narrates the story of three couples and how the successful marriage of one couple helps mend another`s relationship and how the third is urged to tie the knot.

Ajay believes directing a film and acting in it is not difficult.

It seems Ajay was quite the taskmaster on the sets and wanted to get things done his way. He coaxed wife Kajol to do the tough salsa moves again and again until she got it right. Kajol wasn’t too excited at the idea of being thrown up six feet in the air by a group of dancers; in fact, she broke one of the dancer’s nose on her descent. But Ajay did not give up easily. However, after several takes, he finally decided to retain Kajol’s first take, much to her amusement.

But Kajol was not the only one who had a tough time. While shooting the song, Ajay got hit in the face by a lady dancer’s sandal. The poor girl was worried about how he would take it. But though Ajay did get hit quite badly, he didn’t get upset. He carried on shooting as if nothing had happened.

She watched him make a fool of himself, and was relieved when he passed out. She was a woman who followed her heart, but despite his claims of true love, she had made up her mind. Thus began the story of Ajay and Pia.

When Ajay Devgan decided to make his debut in U ME AUR HUM, he was looking for a young lead actor who would play a crucial role in the film. Incidentally, he didn’t get a single actor who would suit the cameo. It so happened that Kumar Mangat was also planning to launch his daughter in a film and he wanted to cast a new comer opposite his daughter. He was impressed by Aditya Singh Rajput aka Addys performance that he decided to offer Addy a lead, whenever he made a movie. Meanwhile Kumar recommended Ajay Devgan to cast Addy for the role.

However seem Yash Chopra and Aditya after a weak 2007 No 175 crores for Karan Johars films ready to have. The Eros-offer seems almost unausschlagbar – unless Karan Johar sets out on his friendship with the Chopras worth more than the 1.75 billion of Eros. The shortfalls are likely, however, they celebrated with “Om Shanti Om” but just the world’s most successful Bollywood film. With “OSO” the film brought home a net import of nearly 1.25 billion rupees.

The filming of “My Name is Khan” with Shahrukh Khan in the lead role has not yet begun, but the struggle for the rights billion is already erupted.
