Taare Zameen Par misses out on Oscars
The much touted and acclaimed film Taare Zameen Par, directed by Aamir Khan has failed to make it to the nine films shortlisted in the foreign language film category.
The nine films, selected from among the 65 that had originally qualified, will now go for the next round of voting.
Selection committees in New York and Los Angeles will then pick five nominees from among them. The winner will be declared on the February 22.
The nine shortlisted films include French Cannes winner The Class and Golden globe winner Waltz with Bashir from Israel.
This has certainly come as a disappointment to millions of fans and film industry people who had hoped that the simple film about a boy and his teacher would make it to the grand show of Oscars finale at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center.
