Sanjay Leela Bhansali recently announced that Saawariya will be a Diwali release for 2007. While everyone knows that the film will mark the debut of two star-kids – Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, very little is known about the theme or story of the film. This is the first film that is being produced by the international film and media conglomerate Sony Pictures and there must be something special about the film that they have decided to choose this film as their first product. While the curiosity around Saawariy will only increase with time as Sanjay Leela Bhansali refuses to divulge any details despite his new found public personality as jury on television shows. But according to reports, Saawariya is a love story of a Hindu boy and a Muslim girl. If true, one wonders whether Sanjay Leela Bhansali is treading on to the territory of the other master – Mani Rathnam’s!
