Antara Mali has come a long way, her father is the renowned commercial photographer Jagdish Mali and her mother is a theatre actress. Her grandfather, Shantanu Mali was a painter. It was natural that Antara would develop interest in films. Antara had debuted in a low-budget film called Dhoondte Reh Jaonge, which went unnoticed.

To Antara’s dismay, her second film Dum Dum Diga Diga was shelved half-way through. Her next break came with a Telugu film, Prem Katha directed by Ramgopal Verma, who later ensured her a slot in her first hindi film Mast. After this, she became a staple feature in Ram Gopal Varma’s movies, she acted as an author-backed role in Ramu’s film Company opposite Vivek Oberoi from where she was groomed as an actress and she graduated from second fiddle roles to being a heroine in Ramu’s Road.
