Ritesh’s first brush with acting came when he joined the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, New York, in the United States. However, when he came back to India he did not take the plunge into acting in films straightaway. He did some architectural work before cinematographer Kabir Lal suggested his name to director K Vijaya Bhaskar.

Bhaskar’s movie Tujhe Meri Kasam became Ritesh’s launchpad to Bollywood.

Ritesh’s father and mother supported his decision of joining films, although his grandfather was against it.
